Body removed from lake

Autopsy is planned; no ID yet

Celina police officers and fire department dive team members work near the Celina Rotary Lighthouse on Tuesday evening. Officials reported finding a body in the water in the area.

CELINA - An unidentified body was pulled from Grand Lake on Tuesday evening.
The Celina Police Department received a call around 7 p.m. from a group of walkers who reported seeing a "hoodie with hair" protruding from the water near the Celina Rotary Lighthouse.
A dive team from the fire department pulled the body out of the water when they arrived on scene.
Detective Brian Taylor said the body appeared to have been in the water for a while, although he wasn't sure how long.
Assistant Chief Dan Harting said they had yet to identify the body and would have Mercer County Coroner Dr. Timothy Heinrichs perform an autopsy.
Celina firefighters and Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers also responded to the scene.
No further information was available at press time.

Correction:
The body, an adult male, was sent to the Montgomery County Coroner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death as well as to identify the man. The error was made in reporting.
