Redskin duo inks with college programs

ST. HENRY - Addy Vaughn and Hannah Bruns are best friends on and off the volleyball court.
Each found the best fit for the next stage of her volleyball journey.
On Monday, Vaughn inked with the University of Tennessee at Martin with Bruns signing her letter of intent to the University of Findlay.
"Me and Addy are best friends, so it's pretty awesome that we both can continue our love for volleyball at a different school," Bruns said. "We're going to miss each other a lot."
St. Henry coach Tricia Rosenbeck will miss both of them, too.
The duo were each first team All-Midwest Athletic Conference and first team All-Ohio selections for the Division IV poll-champion Redskins, who won MAC and district championships this fall.
"We're like sisters," Vaughn said. "It was really fun to play with her for four years."
Vaughn averaged 9.2 assists per set and 2.6 digs while racking up 26 aces this fall. She will play indoor and beach volleyball for the Division I Skyhawks.
"The coaches and the players are really nice, so I thought I would bond really well there," said Vaughn, who will major in chemical engineering.
Vaughn loved everything about the school. She'll have some company on the 7-hour car ride to campus.
"There's a girl, Olivia Lucia, she's from Lehman and she's playing there, too," said Vaughn of her Team Atlantis club volleyball teammate. "It's going to be really fun. We can carpool together."
Bruns was St. Henry's top hitter with an average of 3.5 kills per set this fall. She also added 3.3 digs and 20 aces.
She'll join an Oiler program that went 9-20 this fall, losing to Tiffin in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal.
Bruns called Findlay a perfect match from an athletic and academic standpoint.
"Last year during club season, I went there and tried out and visited the campus, and I really liked it," Bruns said. "I knew I was going into animal science and Findlay college is really good for animal science. Then they offered me.
"I was focused on Findlay," she added. "When they offered me, I could have gotten an offer from anywhere else and I would have said no."
