Alfrieda Kuhn
Alfrieda M. Kuhn, 90, of Rockford, Ohio, passed away at 2:50 a.m., on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 22, 1929, in Rhine, Ohio, to Henry and Elizabeth (Knapke) Braun, both having preceded her in death. On August 6, 1949, she married Kenneth E. Kuhn, who preceded in death on August 9, 2010.
Alfrieda was a homemaker and had graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School, Class of 1946; she had lived her entire life in the area. She was a faithful member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford.
She loved walking, biking, and gardening; after her harvest, she would can her bounty for Ken and herself, and her nine children! She also loved traveling with her family and friends. She lived on the farm until after Kenny passed away, and then decided to move to town. She wasn't sure she would like it, but she did, and she enjoyed sitting on her front porch in her swing, watching all the cars go by. Most of all, she loved her children and her many grandchildren - they were the joy of her life.
Three sons and five daughters survive Alfrieda: James (Brenda) Kuhn of Celina; Kenneth (Elaine) Kuhn of Greenville; Michael (Lisa) Kuhn of Rockford; Mary Jo (Terry) Joseph of Rockford; Diana (Jeff) Long of Rockford; Denise (Tim) Myers of Rockford; Teresa Cowans of Rockford, and Annie (Jerry) Garwood of Willshire, Ohio. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister, Joan (Art) Turnwald of Ottoville, Ohio, and 1 daughter-in-law Jo Kuhn of Rockford, Ohio.
Deceased is one son, Stephen Kuhn, and five sisters: Mary Sarah Braun, Sister Alma Braun, Sister Joan Braun, Dorothy Bettinger and her husband, Jack Bettinger, and Irene Frey and her husband Chuck Frey; one brother Cletus Braun and his wife Dottie Braun also have preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford, with Father Tim McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.
