One dies in crash

A 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is left overturned near the intersection of U.S. 127 and Clover Four Road after a fatal traffic accident on Wednesday night.

CELINA - A Botkins man was killed and two others suffered non-life threatening injuries on Wednesday following a traffic crash at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Clover Four Road.
Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Wapakoneta Post responded to the fatal accident at approximately 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release. An initial investigation found that Jordan E. Fledderjohann, 26, was traveling westbound on Clover Four Road in a 2019 Chevrolet pickup. Jessica Zapata, 23, Weslaco, Texas, was driving northbound on U.S. 127 in a 2012 Nissan pickup.
Fledderjohann reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and was struck by Zapata's vehicle. Fledderjohann's vehicle traveled off the road northwest of the intersection, struck a ditch and overturned, ejecting Fledderjohann in the process, according to the release. Zapata's vehicle traveled off the road northwest and went into the ditch. Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
Fledderjohann reportedly was transported to Mercer Health Community Hospital, Coldwater, with life-threatening injuries by the Coldwater Emergency Medical Services, where he was later pronounced dead. Zapata and her passenger, Andrea Garza, 6, Weslaco, Texas, were also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The OSHP was assisted on the scene by the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, Coldwater Fire Department and EMS, Montezuma Fire Department, and the Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers.
Fledderjohann was reportedly not wearing a properly adjusted seatbelt at the time of the accident. Zapata was wearing a seatbelt, but Garza reportedly was not, according to the release.
Next of kin has been notified. Alcohol is not a suspected factor. The crash remains under investigation.
