Thelma Houser
Thelma A. Houser, age 82, of rural Mendon, passed away Wednesday morning, August 28, 2019, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born December 21, 1936, in Auglaize County, to the late James & Matilda (Hebert) Sampson. Thelma married James D. Houser on July 7, 1956, and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2008.
She is survived by 7 children: Richard (Debra) Sampson of Forest, OH, Joseph Houser of Celina, Patrick Houser and Daniel (Shyla) Houser of Mendon, Debra (James) Dotson of Pensacola, FL, Lynn (Roger) Sell of Rockford, and Shirley (Travis) Dicke of Ohio City, 18 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren. 5 brothers & sisters also survive: Merle Sampson of Swanton, OH, Albert (Catherine) Sampson of Dublin, OH, Jean Young of Van Wert, Shirley (Clay) Davis of Lima, and Matilda Washburn of Saint Marys.
Thelma was preceded in death by 2 sons: Dennis and Terry Houser, a grandson, Jordan Houser, 2 infant grandsons, and 3 brothers: James, Bernard, and George Sampson.
A homemaker, Thelma enjoyed gardening, reading, and taking care of her grandkids.
Funeral Services will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31. Pastor Randy Christian will officiate. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, near Celina.
Calling Hours are 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, and 10:00-11:00 a.m.on Saturday, at the funeral home in Mendon.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Alzheimers Association.
