Homes torn apart, seven reported hurt

CELINA - At least seven people were seriously injured and multiple homes devastated when a tornado tore through northwestern Celina on Monday night.
Emergency responders were in search-and-rescue mode early this morning checking for residents trapped in heavily damaged homes, mostly near Wheatland Acres, Fairground Road and the Bruns Addition. Some homes were destroyed and vehicles picked up and spit out by the powerful tornado, Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel said. [More]
Rodgers' first-inning slam too much for Wildcats to overcome

GREENVILLE - Daytaviah Rodgers slammed the door open for Mechanicsburg in the first inning.
She later helped Mechanicsburg close door with Minster rallying in the seventh.
Rodgers hit a first-inning grand slam and pitched the final two innings, recording a strikeout for the final out with Minster threatening as Mechanicsburg held on for an 8-4 victory in the Division IV regional championship Saturday at Greenville's Stebbins Field. [More]

CELINA - Flags waved in the wind at Lakeshore Park on Monday as a large crowd gathered for a Memorial Day service to honor those who had made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
