Mercer County Engineer Jim Wiechart on Tuesday afternoon leads the last state-mandated public hearing about a proposed additional $5 vehicle registration permissive tax. The hearing was attended by current and former county employees and one person from the public, who asked if other revenue sources could be tapped in lieu of the proposed $5 permissive tax. County commissioners will soon act on the proposal.
