Leroy Heitkamp
Leroy V. Heitkamp, age 69 of Carthagena, died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at his home.
He was born February 13, 1949 in Coldwater, to the late Alfred & Hilda (Lochtefeld) Heitkamp. On October 10, 1981 he married Patricia (Weitzel) Heitkamp and she survives in Carthagena.
Leroy is survived by children, Brian Heitkamp of Carthagena, Doug & Shelly Heitkamp of St. Sebastian, four grandchildren, Tyler, Ava, Aleah, and Isaac Heitkamp. He is also survived by siblings, Marvin Heitkamp, and Elton Heitkamp both of St. Rose, Marlene & David Schulze of Wapakoneta, his mother-in-law Eva Weitzel of St. Henry, Mary & Jim Link of Bryant, IN, Ken Weitzel of Celina, Marilyn & Jerry Vogel, Ron Weitzel, and Jim & Linda Weitzel all of Ft. Recovery, Barb & Steve Schlarman of Cranberry Prairie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Weitzel.
Leroy was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Carthagena. He retired from Good Year Tire in St. Marys after 35.5 years, and he was a lifelong farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, and a member of the Maria Stein Legion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 24, 2018 at St. Aloysius Church with Fr. Jim Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Carthagena.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, December 23, and 9:00 to 10:00 am Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
