Joshua Fortkamp
Joshua Keith Fortkamp, 36, of Delaware, OH passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, December 13, 2018 at his residence.
On October 10, 1982, the most wonderful human being was born in Athens, Ohio to Margaret "Peggy" Fortkamp. He had a smile that could light up a room and any heart in it.
Though he dealt with extreme pain for the last 25 years, he kept on trying to fulfill his dream of a more peaceful world and relief of the suffering.
Josh started his journey in Athens, Ohio where he attended River Valley Community School for 5 years and then a year of home schooling before graduating from Athens High School. Thanks to scholarships and other gifts of help, he was able to attend Ohio Wesleyan University for 3 years studying in Philosophy, Religion and Asian Studies.
Josh embraced the Catholic faith, becoming Catholic and a part of St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware.
He will be sorely missed by his mother, Peggy Fortkamp; aunts, Terry Fortkamp (who was also his godmother), Betsy (Don) Eischen and Angela Fortkamp; uncles, Tony (Shirley) Fortkamp and Gene (Grace) Fortkamp; godfather, Skip Coppola; father, Keith Jones. Numerous cousins and so many friends also survive.
No words can describe the pain felt by his mother and if anything, Josh would want us all to help others and live our lives in peace and kindness.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 12:00- 2:00 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive (formerly 1510 W. William Street), Delaware, where celebration of life services will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Josh House officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Rose Cemetery.
Contributions in Josh's memory may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses or to Josh''s favorite charity, The Prem Rawat Foundation, Food for People Program.
