Alfred Luttmer
Alfred F. Luttmer, age 89, of St. Henry, passed away Monday November 19, 2018, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
He was born August 12, 1929, in St. Rose, to the late Bernard H. & Clara (Holdheide) Luttmer. On August 12, 1950 he married Pauline (Reier) Luttmer, and she survives in St. Henry.
Al is also survived by children: Randy & Sue Luttmer of St. Henry, Melvin & Marlene Luttmer of St. Henry, Ronald Luttmer of Wapakoneta, and Marvin & Lucy Luttmer of St. Henry, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are siblings Leonard Luttmer of Yorkshire, and Erma Brunswick of Maria Stein, and a sister-in-law Viola Kemper of Chickasaw.
Al was preceded in death by a great grandchild, and siblings and in-laws: Wilbert & Norma Luttmer, Sadie & Lawrence Poeppelman, Bernard F. Jr. & Marie Luttmer, Norma & Werner Stammen, Dolores Luttmer, Robert Brunswick, Wilbert & Sally Reier, Walter Reier, and Werner Kemper.
Al was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, and was a lifetime member of the St. Henry K of C. Council 2640. He served as a member of the Fire Departments in St. Henry and Montezuma for 20 years, and completed T & I training.
He started working as a milk hauler for the former Pet Milk Co. in Coldwater, and later worked for Meadow Gold Dairy in New Bremen. Later he worked at Osterholt Car Sales, and graduated from a salesman school by American Motors Co., in Cleveland, Ohio. He then opened his own auto body shop, which he operated in St. Henry for 20 years.
Al served as St. Henry Village Council president for 18 years and Mayor for 4 years.
Al was an avid card player and always enjoyed a cookout or get together with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. Burial will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, November 23, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the State of the Heart Care.
