Gregory Sommer
Gregory B. "Gee" Sommer age 65, of Minster, Ohio, died at 2:50 PM on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at his home in Minster.
He was born on May 19, 1953 in Coldwater, Ohio to the late Vernon "Bud" & Marjory (Howell) Sommer. He married Kathy "Kat" Weiskittel on November 24, 1972 at St. Augustine Church Minster. She survives in Minster.
He is also survived by children Amber Lazier, Minster, Allan & Erin Sommer, Columbus and Rebecca "Becca" & Jay Cuff, Columbiana, OH, 5 grandchildren, Logan, Luke, Callum, Oliver & Harper, brothers Mike & Pam Sommer, Vandalia, Doug Sommer, Celina.
He was preceded in death by brother Steven.
He was a member of St. Augustine Church, Minster, Minster F.O.E. #1391 and retired from The State of Ohio and the Village of Minster.
Gee loved playing softball for the Wagner's Dutch Mill Team and was a girls youth softball coach. Gee was the type of man who never knew a stranger, and was the constant bartender. He was always quick to offer a beverage and great conversation.
Being one of the hardest working men around, he passed on a great work ethic and pride in what you do to his kids. Family meant the world to him. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and camping with his wife, kids and grandkids.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10 AM on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at St. Augustine Church, Minster with Rev. Frankline Rayappa, Celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, October 9 and from 9 to 9:30 AM on Wednesday.
Donations will go to a scholarship fund to be setup at Minster Local Schools in Gee's name.
