Carl Albers
Carl "Chief" Albers, 68, of Minster, Ohio was called home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018.
He was born September 23, 1949 in Minster, OH to the late Clarence and Anna (Kremer) Albers. On July 23, 1971 he married the love of his life Mary Moeller, who survives in Minster, Ohio.
He is also survived by his four children; Melissa (Josh Ebling) Meyer, Ft. Loramie, OH, Craig (Tracy) Albers, Sylvania, OH, Renee (Darren) Caywood, St. Marys, OH, and Curt (Mandy) Albers, Minster, OH; three siblings, Les (Jean) Albers, Osgood, OH, Norm Albers, Ft. Loramie, OH, twin Carol (Gerald) Rentz, Chickasaw, OH; and ten grandchildren: Griffin, Gabe and Maeve Meyer; Avery and Isabelle Albers; Clare, Carly, and Calvin Caywood; Cole and Elise Albers. Surviving in-laws include Betty (Jim) Harting, Ft. Collins, CO; Dan (Lucy) Moeller, Maria Stein; Charles Moeller, Cape Coral, FL; Pat (Sue) Moeller, Montezuma; Butch (Nancy) Moeller, Montezuma; Jane Heitkamp, Montezuma; Kris Rutschilling, Montezuma; Theresa (Robert) Wilson, Camden, NY; Donna (Terry) Temple, Montezuma; Melvin (Susie) Moeller, Montezuma; Giles Ronnebaum, Montezuma; Barb Moeller, St. Henry; Dick Rindler, Montezuma; and Larry Albers, Minster.
He is preceded in death by five brothers-in-laws; Orville Meyer, Robert Huffman, Dale Hinders, John Moeller, and Gary Heitkamp. Also deceased are five sister-in-laws; Eileen (Moeller) Ronnebaum, Virginia "Ginny" (Moeller) Rindler, Carolyn (Moeller) Albers, Rhonda Moeller, and Jane Albers.
Carl graduated from Minster High School in 1967. He was a dedicated and loyal worker at both Dannon and Crown, where he prided himself on punctuality. It didn't hurt that being early meant the best parking spot, too. Carl was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and served as a longtime Jackson Township Trustee. He was a member of Minster FOE 1391, Knights of Columbus, Auglaize Soil and Water Board, and was a JTDMH Trustee. He enjoyed watching sports - especially those involving his children and grandchildren. He even had his own "popcorn rating" for every sporting event. He was truly proud to be a Minster Wildcat. He never met a stranger, and was quick to welcome everyone he met with an uncanny storytelling ability. Often these stories involved ornery brother-in-laws and maybe even included an embellishment from time to time. Always a sharp card player with one eye on everyone else's cards, his one flaw was never allowing anyone else to bid - a classic Albers trait. Through the years, Carl had many medical ailments, but there was never a complaint. Despite his very large stature, Chief was a gentle giant who was a survivor, a fighter. His size and strength were small compared to his friendliness and sense of humor. He will be missed by many, but his spirit will always be with us.
Visitation hours will be from 1:00-6:00pm on Sunday, July 29 at Hogenkamp Funeral home, Minster, Ohio 45865
