Charles Otting
Charles "Picket" B. Otting, age 86 Little Rock, MS, passed away of natural causes early Sunday morning, July 15, 2018, at the Anderson Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.
He was born April 9, 1932, in Minster, Ohio, to the late Charles and Marie (Frigge) Otting. On November 10, 1956, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, Charlie married his wife of 61 years, Janice (Rethman) Otting who survives.
Also surviving are sisters & brothers-in-law: Carol Otting, Sam DiSalvo, Gene Rethman and John & Carol Bowsher.
He was preceded in death by two siblings, Mary Lou DiSalvo and Albert Otting as well as brothers & sisters-in-law: Stan & Edna Beaver, Carl & Elsie Borchers and Marge Rethman.
Mr. Otting was a graduate of Minster High School. He then served 19 months active duty in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1989, Charlie retired from LeRoi Dresser in Sidney where he had been employed 30 years.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Tucker, MS where he served as an usher. He had also been a member of the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1391 and a life member of the V.F.W. Post #9289 in St. Marys. In recent years, Charlie loved working Jigsaw puzzles.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 26, 2018, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in North Star, OH.
