Open houses set at new St. Henry pool

By Tom Stankard
ST. HENRY - Council members are counting down the days until the village's new pool opens to the public.
An open house is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Friday. Village administrator Ron Gelhaus said construction should be complete in time for a ribbon cutting and second open house on Monday, with the ceremony set to begin at 11 a.m. at 211 Parkview Drive.
The village also is finalizing details for a permit to install sanitary sewer and water mains as part of a project to expand Jeff Hartings Way by 300 feet in the village's business park, Gelhaus said.
The time is right to expand to "make more property available for business if they need to expand," he said, noting construction is slated to begin this summer and will possibly cost $100,000.
The village on Friday applied for a $397,000 Transportation Alternatives Program grant through the Ohio Department of Transportation. If approved, the project would begin in 2022 and would make the intersection of Maple and Walnut streets safer for children to cross on their way to and from school.
