About 30 percent of the soybeans and 60 percent of the corn in Mercer County have been planted, said Michelle Stahl, executive director of the Mercer County Farm Service Agency. Damp, cold soil conditions kept farmers out of their fields in recent weeks, but once the temperature warmed, so did the soils. Many farmers began planting last week, a little behind schedule, she said.
