Gene Knox
Gene Knox, 82, Saint Marys, died 10:31 A.M. Monday, May 7, 2018, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, Saint Marys.
He was born January 3, 1936, in Jackson County, Ohio, the son of Chester and Dorothy (Oiler) Knox. He married Deborah Colvin on June 7, 1969, at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys; she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his two step-children: Reverend Kevin (Carol) Doseck of Sherwood, Ohio; Tonja Baker of Saint Marys. He is survived by his six grandchildren: Sara LaMarr; Chris Doseck; Paul Doseck; Marcus Baker; AJ Baker; Rachel Swartz. He is also survived by his ten great-grandchildren: Alex LaMarr; Hunter LaMarr; Caleb LaMarr; Ellieanna LaMarr; Lydia LaMarr; Aaron Doseck; Zachary Doseck; Aidan Doseck; William Doseck; Amelia Doseck.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1954 graduate of Silver Creek High School in Jamestown, Ohio; he attended Wilmington College. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Gene retired from Textron Corporation in Lima, where he was a computer programmer. He was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys. He was a very talented wood carver, and he enjoyed birding, golfing, and building models.
Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, the Reverend Lynn Huffman and the Reverend Dillon Staas, officiants. Private family burial rites will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to Wayne Street United Methodist Church Building Fund.
