James Tolan
James Frederick Tolan, 70, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 5:05 a.m. at the Van Wert In-Patient Hospice.
He was born in Van Wert, Ohio, on June 4, 1947, the son of Fred and Kay (Sweyer) Tolan.
He was a 1965 graduate of Parkway High School and went on to obtain his draftsman degree from college. Jim lived in Rockford until 1970, when he married the love of his life, Teresa Heckler, on November 7, 1970 and moved to Celina.
He retired from Fanning & Howey in Celina, after 39½ years as a plumbing designer. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Celina, the Shanes Lodge #377 F&AM, and attended the Photography Club in Celina.
Jim was an avid photographer, and was so very proud of his pictures he took when he and Teresa were in Alaska. He enjoyed making stained glass creations and traveling and camping.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Teresa, are four children: Andrew (Rachel) Tolan of Dayton, Ohio; Tasha (Ryan) Rothert of Woodville, Ohio; Rachel (Jason) Wilson of Perrysburg, Ohio; and Katie (Graeme) Myerholtz, also of Perrysburg, Ohio. Nine grandchildren also survive: Grace, Nicholas, Sawyer, Beckett, Piper, Ava, Charlotte, Xavier, and Aiden.
Deceased are his parents, Fred and Kay, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Colleen Heckler, and an infant sister, Suzanne Tolan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, Ohio with officiants, Glenn Hux and Steve Ford. Graveside services will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday 1 hour prior to the service. Masonic services will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Community Health Professionals of Van Wert or Celina or to the Cancer Association of Mercer County, Celina, Ohio.
