ST. MARYS - City officials are considering paying for the lighting at the proposed new football stadium at the middle/high school campus but are waiting for final cost estimates before proceeding.
City council's electric committee members and other officials met on Monday with Roughrider Philanthropic Association representative Dan Burke to consider the proposal. The plan would include having the city pay for the lighting and then be repaid through the purchase of electricity over 15 years. [More]

CELINA - Safety service director Tom Hitchcock can proceed with awarding a $25,392 contract to install handicapped-accessible bleachers at Montgomery Field after city council action on Monday night.
Idea referred to panel for further exploration
CELINA - Two city councilmen at Monday night's special meeting floated the idea of creating an ice-skating area within the city's park system.
After briefly discussing the matter, though, officials agreed to explore the concept in more detail at a future parks and recreation committee meeting.
Officials plan to construct a locally designed conservation practice that includes wetland cells and plants in a flood-prone farm field east of Rockford.
