Werner Heckman
Werner Lee Heckman, age 69, of Maria Stein, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home.
He was born September 10, 1948, in Celina to the late Richard & Imelda (Schoenherr) Heckman. He married Elaine (Tuente) Heckman on November 14, 1975 and she survives in Maria Stein.
Werner is also survived by their six children: Trisha & Neil Gilbert of Birmingham, AL, Brad Heckman of St. Henry, Tracy Johnson of Englewood, Brent Heckman of Erie, PA, Bart & Melissa Heckman of Chicago, IL, and Tara & Jacob Frick of Perrysburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Ellery, Owen, Lucy, Aiden, Riley, Makinley, and Grayson; siblings: Mary Ann & Vernon Bohman of Russia, Karen Evers of Celina, Jan & Jeff Gottschalk of Minster, and Paul & Annette Heckman of Maria Stein; and in laws: Frank Liesner of Chickasaw, Bonnie & Gary Garrison of Maria Stein, Kathy & Wayne Gruebmeyer of New Bremen, and Karen & Rick Scott of Maria Stein.
Werner is preceded in death by siblings: Jean Liesner, and Tom Heckman, and his mother and father in law Clarence and Dorothy Tuente.
He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and the Knights of St. John in Maria Stein. Werner served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was a member of the Chickasaw VFW, and the Maria Stein American Legion.
He formerly worked at Minster Machine for 43 years, and enjoyed gardening, landscaping, traveling, Barbecuing, and spending time with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Sebastian Church. Burial with military rites will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Friday and 9 to 10 AM Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans Assistance Program.
