Victor Henschen
Victor L. Henschen, 90, New Knoxville, Ohio, died 10:02 P.M. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at his residence, following a short illness.
He was born July 24, 1927, on the family farm in New Knoxville, the son of Herman F. and Alvina (Haberkamp) Henschen.
He married Pattie Burkett on October 12, 1952, in Greenville, Ohio; she preceded him in death on November 29, 2017.
He is survived by his children: Steve (Janet) Henschen of Knoxville, Tennessee; Chris (Coni) Henschen of New Knoxville; Tami Henschen (Rick) Setser of Princeton, West Virginia. He is survived by his 11 grandchildren and by 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife; by his siblings: Leonard Henschen; Elmer Henschen and Ruben Henschen.
Victor was an honorary 2004 graduate of New Knoxville High School. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer and woodworker. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Minster, Ohio, for 46 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 444 for 70 years, and a lifetime member of the National Farmers' Union.
He loved driving his tractor and spending time with his family.
Mr. Henschen's casket was handmade just for Victor by his eldest grandson, Keith Henschen, from wood on his home farm in New Knoxville.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Calvary Chapel Baptist Church, 71 North Hamilton Street, Minster, Pastor Rick Setser and Pastor Bob Warnick, officiants. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Friday at the Calvary Chapel, where memorial gifts may be given to First Bible International.
