FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery Indians were ranked sixth in the first Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division IV state poll.
They should be much higher next week.
The Indians became the first team to defeat top-ranked New Bremen this season on Thursday night and they did so in impressive fashion. Report cards evaluating local school districts show most had improved from last school year.  
State superintendent Paolo DeMaria said the report cards released Thursday indicate that more first-time test-takers in 2017 had scored proficient or higher in every subject area.

State criticized for poor response
Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation district board members want more information about state investigations into local ag pollution complaints involving state-permitted livestock farms and Certified Livestock Managers who receive state certification to apply manure.
