Sally Fark
Sally A. Fark, age 83 of New Bremen, died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10:10 A.M. at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyles Community of St. Marys.
She was born in June of 1934 in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Carl D. "Jack" Abbott and Mabel C. (Scheer) Abbott. On December 27, 1952, she married her high school sweetheart Howard H. Fark, and he survives in New Bremen.
Also surviving are her children; David (Sue) Fark of New Bremen, Debra (Darryl) Barhorst of Ada, Diane (Martin) Fisher of Ada, and Douglas Fark of New Bremen, her grandchildren; Valerie Fark of Lakewood, Rachel (Jake) Gehrlich of Maria Stein, Jeff (Katie) Keifer of Lima, Sarah (Zach) Nycz of Bluffton, and Matt (Lacey) Fisher of Ada, her great-grandchildren; Tony Fark, Jaelyn Gehrlich, Jack Gehrlich, Parker Keifer, Nora Keifer, Caleb Nycz, Chloe Nycz, Layla Fisher, and Luke Fisher, and her step-mother Betty Abbott of Lima.
Sally was a life-long member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen where she was involved in many different groups, and sang in the choir for a number of years. She was a founding member of the OCCL-Twigbenders, the group that started New Bremen's first Kindergarten, where she was the teacher for two years. For many years after that, she volunteered with the Kindergarten classes at New Bremen Elementary School, and in the 1970's volunteered at the former Auglaize School in New Bremen.
Sally was all about her family. She enjoyed attending the various events that her children and grandchildren were involved in, and spending time with her family was important to her.
Sally and Howard loved to travel, and they were able to take trips across the United States, and around the world. They enjoyed wintering in Sanibel, FL for many years, and also took many trips with family and friends, but her favorite trips were the many trips to Houghton Lake in Michigan, and the two trips to Africa.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home of New Bremen.
Private family services will be held, and inurnment will take place in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen.
