Cyril Evers
Cyril "Hoot" Evers, age 90 of St. Henry, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Mercer Health, Coldwater.
Cyril was born April 5, 1927 in St. Rose, to the late Albert and Anna (Hartings) Evers.
On September 5, 1983, he married Phyllis Post, and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage together until her death in July of 2015.
Upon marriage he also gained three step children who survive him: Bob & Deb Post of St. Henry, Jim Post of Fairfield, and Lisa & Sunil Gupta of Gulf Breeze, Florida. He is also survived by 11 step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, sisters in-law: Mary Thobe, and Marcene Buehler and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a step grandson Brandon Huelskamp; a sister, Florentine & Arlington Rose, and in-laws: Clarence & Rose Buehler, Walter & Alvina Buehler, Ed Buehler, Clarene & Clarence Liette, Evelyn & Ben Bruening, Virginia & Bob Stuppe, Werner Thobe, and Dorothy & Alvin Ratterman.
Cyril "Hoot" was a dedicated farmer who proudly served his country during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, following the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Cyril also enjoyed watching his grandchildren and the activities they were involved in, and eating pie and ice cream. Hoot was formerly a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, St. Rose; and was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. He was also a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 31, 2017 at St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry. Burial will follow with full military honors in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Monday, July 31. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com.
