About 20 people attended a July 20 hops field day held in Fort Recovery. The day began with presentations in the Fort Recovery High School ag room followed by a tour of a nearby hop hard operated by Andy Pax of Heartland Hops. Main speaker Brad Bergefurd, OSU hops specialist, focused on growing hops in Ohio and emphasized issues to consider when starting a hops operation. Nick Moeller of Moeller Brew Barn in Maria Stein also gave a short presentation on what a brewmaster wants when selecting hops.
