Simon Knous
Simon L. Knous, 83, of St. Marys, OH died Sunday April 30, 2017 at Shane Hill Nursing Home in Rockford, OH.
He was born August 23, 1933 in Venedocia, OH to Clifford and Stella (Gallimore) Knous. On January 8, 1990 in Sevierville, TN, he married Myrtle Stanley, who survives.
He is also survived by: son Mike (Sheila) Knous of St. Marys, OH; daughter Sue (Dennis) Pfeffenberger of St. Marys, OH; daughter Theresa (Jerry) Axe of St. Marys, OH; daughter Chris Knous of Mascoutah, IL; son Jeff Knous of Wapakoneta, OH; son Mark (Wendy) Knous of St. Marys, OH; daughter Darlene Knous of St. Marys, OH; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Lloyd (Patricia) Knous of Decatur, IN; brother Paul (Patsy) Knous of St. Marys, OH; brother Charles (Carol) Knous of St. Marys, OH; sister Joyce Scherer of New Carlisle, OH; sister Inez Jacobs of St. Marys, OH; sister Julia Huff of St. Marys, OH; sister-in-law Jacqueline Knous of Celina, OH.
Preceded in death by: parents Clifford and Stella Knous; brother Don Knous; brother Allen "Bud" Knous; brother James Knous; brother Wesley Knous; sister Evelyn Sorenson; sister Louise Long.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. He retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., in St. Marys, where he worked as a steam engineer. He enjoyed farming, especially operating tractors.
Rites are scheduled to begin 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 6, 2017 at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys, with the Rev. Phillip Miller, officiating. Burial, with graveside military honors, will follow at the Huntsville Cemetery, in Huntsville, OH.
Visitation 2–8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.
