Robbery suspect caught

CELINA - The man suspected of robbing the Best Western hotel was arrested Monday morning.

The Celina Police Department announced at noon that Clay A. Junod was in custody and has been charged with aggravated robbery. Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel said at Monday's city council meeting that Junod had been picked up in Lima.

Junod is suspected of robbing the hotel located at 2020 Holiday Drive using a handgun and then fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Celina officers were assisted by deputies from the Mercer County Sheriff's Department and Mercer County Prosecutor Matthew K. Fox, according to an earlier news release. An extensive search of the area was conducted along with searches of multiple locations in Celina where Junod has been known to frequent.

Chief Tom Wale thanked residents who assisted with tips and information.

The department did not provide further information.
