Walter Fleck
Walter W. "Walt" Fleck, age 85 of Celina, Ohio passed away at 8:52 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
He was born on July 12, 1931 in Celina, Ohio to the late William "Bill" & Anna (Fullenkamp) Fleck. On July 6, 1955 he married Floriana C. Knapke, who died on July 10, 2002.
Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Lori Fleck of Celina, Mike and Leanne Fleck of New Bremen, three grandchildren Erick Fleck, Liz Fleck, Matthew Greene, great grandson Landon Greene, a brother, Carl Fleck of Celina and several nieces and nephews.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and sister-in-law Louis and Margie Fleck, his sister and brother-in-law Marie and Bob Kuhn and his sister-in-law Maryann Fleck.
He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School with the class of 1949. Walt was employed at The Daily Standard Newspaper for 50 years. He served on Celina City Council for 30 years.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he served on Parish Council, the Parish Festival Planning Committee and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1800 for 53 years. Walt was a strong supporter of the American Red Cross having donated over 24 gallons of blood over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday March 22, 2017 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Kenneth Schnipke C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday March 21, 2017 and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. Knight of Columbus membership services will be held at 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Endowment Fund.
