* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Jack Vorhees
Jack D. Vorhees, age 87, of Celina, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at Celina Manor.
He was born November 21, 1929 in Celina, to the late Russel E. & Goldie M. Silvers Vorhees.
Jack married Sandra Hatfield on June 29, 1953, and she survives, along with their two children: Cheryl (Curtis) Snider and Allan "Rusty" (Ann) Vorhees of Celina, four grandsons: Matthew Snider of Aledo, TX, Greg Snider of Celina, Douglas (Alyssa) Vorhees of Kettering and Nathan Vorhees of Celina, and two great-grandchildren: Lucy Julianne Vorhees of Kettering and Kyler Snider of Ray City, GA, a sister, Karen (Mike) Bryant of Bridgman, MI, a brother-in-law, Steve Hatfield of Celina, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Preceding him in death were eight brothers & sisters: Onalee (Melvin) Monroe, Virgil (Maxine) Vorhees, Irene (Claude) Goodpaster, Doris West, Betty (Ermon) Huston, Norma (Calvin) Smitley, Helen (Robert) Sneddon and Pat (Bud) Shivley, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Leon & Schula Hatfield.
Jack had attended Celina High School. He served four years as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Over the years, Jack held a variety of jobs in the local area. He worked as a truck driver at the Stokely Plant, a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and was a meter reader for the City of Celina. In 1969, he established the Westside Carryout. Lastly, he retired from Foundations, where he worked as a transportation driver.
Jack attended Grand Lake United Methodist Church (St. Paul's Campus) in Celina, and was a life member of Celina VFW Post #5713. He was also a member of the Mercer County Harness Horsemen's Association. An avid harness horseman, Jack and his son Rusty raced many horses over the years.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 8, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Matt Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, with Military Rites to be conducted by Celina American Legion Post #210 and VFW Post #5713.
Calling Hours are from 2:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 7, at the Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, State of the Heart Care, or Grand Lake United Methodist Church.
