Burglar evades jail sentence

By Jared Mauch
CELINA - A Dayton man reportedly involved in the 2015 burglary of TJ's Grocerette in Rockford and a string of other burglaries around the state was sentenced to three years of community control sanctions.
Kenneth Longstreath, 41, was sentenced Wednesday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court for five fifth-degree felony counts of breaking and entering. He also was ordered to pay about $9,200 in restitution to Murphy U.S.A. in Bellefontaine for goods stolen, assigned counsel fees and court costs.
As part of his sentence, he must not consume any alcohol or drugs and must submit to random testing and abide by a daily 9 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew, unless it conflicts with his employment or children visitation.
Longstreath had faced 29 charges related to burglaries that took place from April 18, 2015, to May 17, 2015. However, the plea deal he entered into on Nov. 16 reduced his charges to five fifth-degree felony counts of breaking and entering.
His uncle, Danny Lee Longstreath, 65, who also was charged in the burglaries, has a sentencing scheduled for this afternoon.
