Joseph Drake
Joseph H. Drake, age 74, of Celina, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Celina Manor.
Born March 27, 1942 in Celina, he was the son of Joseph B. & Mary A. (Poor) Drake, who are both deceased.
Joe married Carolyn Ann (Chaney) on September 22, 1966, and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2003. Their only Son, Steven E. Drake, passed away on February 12, 2003.
He is survived by his Sister, Marjorie Fetters of Celina, 6 Nieces & a Nephew: Tess Glass, Debora Shaffer, Jennifer (Tim) Strawser, Eric Alwine, Tina (Anthony) Green, Kendall Draeger and Lilly Alwine, a Brother-in-law, Marvin "Joe" Chaney of Mendon, and a Sister-in-law, Glenda Chaney of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by Brothers-in-law: Larry Fetters, William "Bill" Chaney and Junior Chaney, and a Sister-in-law, Marjorie Chaney.
Joe was a 1961 Graduate of Mendon-Union High School, and had worked for many years at AVCO New Idea in Coldwater.
He had been very active in the community, as a member of MCERV (Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers), a volunteer firefighter with the Montezuma Fire Department, and served on the Mercer County Disaster Committee and the Franklin Township Zoning Commission.
A favorite pastime of Joe's was operating CB and Ham Radios, with his CB handle being "Casey Q" and Ham Radio call sign "KC8RYQ".
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, December 5, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor Matt Overman, officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
Calling Hours are from 10:00 A.M. until time of services on Monday, at the Funeral Home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department.
