CELINA - Mercer County voters on Election Day approved a new Department of Job and Family Services tax levy to help pay for operating and capital improvement expenditures to support children's services.
They also voted to renew the county Board of Developmental Disabilities' operating levy. [More]

CELINA - Mercer County Commissioner Jerry Laffin resoundingly defeated Democratic challenger Kathy Deitsch by capturing 75.7 percent of the vote, securing another four-year term.
Laffin, a 77-year-old Coldwater Republican, who's been a county commissioner since Jan. 2, 1981, garnered 15,665 votes to Deitsch's 5,015, according to the county board of election's unofficial results. [More]

Three area Republican congressmen held off Democrat challenges to win re-election Tuesday night.
Voters in both Fort Recovery and Mendon on Tuesday approved tax levy renewals.
In Fort Recovery, two renewals were approved. A 2.3-mill current expenses levy won approval 482-226, while a 2.5-mill street repair levy passed by a 502-215 count. Both levies have been collected since 2007.
Linda Haycock, the president of Shawnee Schools Board of Education near Lima for the past eight years, won a four-way contest for the 1st District seat on the State Board of Education in Tuesday's election.
