Dayton man gets 17 years in prison for series of crimes
Crimes included Rockford store burglary

CELINA - A Dayton man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison on charges stemming from a string of thefts including a 2015 burglary at a Rockford store.
John Coile Jr., 50, Dayton, was sentenced by Judge Jeffrey Ingraham on Wednesday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Coile reached a plea deal and pleaded guilty on Oct. 5 to 12 counts of fifth-degree felony breaking and entering and one count of second-degree felony engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. The charges were among 36 he faced when he went on trial Oct. 3, according to court records. The other charges were dismissed under the agreement.
Coile was sentenced to seven years in prison for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and 10 months in prison for each count of breaking and entering. The terms are to be served consecutively, Ingraham said.
Coile will also have three years of post-release control after prison, Ingraham said.
Defense attorney Stephen Chamberlain asked for Ingraham to consider a 10-year sentence for Coile's actions noting that anything longer could be considered a life sentence for the 50-year-old Coile.
Coile said he was sorry for his actions in a brief statement before Ingraham issued the sentencing.
Mercer County Sheriff's deputies reportedly arrested Coile on May 17, 2015, after the burglary of cigarettes from TJ's Grocerette in Rockford.
Court documents specify that numerous cartons of cigarettes, vapor pens and vapor juice refills valued at about $10,039 had been taken. Damages and other associated costs reportedly totaled about $2,185.
Coile and two other men reportedly had forced their way into the small grocery store at 11:32 p.m. after it had closed, Rockford Police Chief Paul May said at the time. No weapons were noted in the sheriff's report.
Deputies on May 17, 2015, also arrested Kenneth Longstreath, and his uncle Danny Lee Longstreath, both of Dayton.
An unidentified caller reportedly had followed one of the vehicles after the Rockford store break-in and notified authorities.
The Longstreaths were arrested during a traffic stop in the 4900 block of state Route 707, and Coile was arrested during a stop at the intersection of U.S. 127 and Morrow Road.
Kenneth Longstreath reportedly had pleaded not guilty to charges during a July 1 arraignment, and Danny Lee Longstreath had pleaded not guilty to charges during a July 8 arraignment. Both men have pretrials scheduled for Nov. 16, according to court records.
