St. Marys school chief to lead ESC

ST. MARYS - School district superintendent Shawn Brown will submit his resignation to school board members this week to pursue another local position.
Brown confirmed to the newspaper this morning that he plans to step down as school district superintendent to pursue the same position at the Auglaize County Educational Service Center.
School board members will meet in special session at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the administrative office to accept his resignation.
Brown said he hopes to begin at the county office in August.
Current Auglaize County ESC Superintendent Ann Harvey was unavailable for comment this morning.
Brown was hired as St. Marys City Schools superintendent in 2012 after having served as Spencerville High School principal for the previous 12 years. He began his educational career at Lima City Schools' North Middle School and also was associate principal at Lima Senior High School.
Brown is the second person in the school district's administration to pursue new employment this summer.
Earlier this month, treasurer Tom Sommer resigned to become the treasurer for Celina City Schools.
