Celina Middle School students walk around the track Wednesday afternoon during a Relay for Life event. At the time of the relay, about $10,500 had been raised, but over the course of the day, several more donations brought the total to about $14,000, principal Ann Esselstein said, likely making it the second-highest donation amount in the relay's 12-year history. "It's been absolutely phenomenal and without question one of the most wonderful and arguably the most educational day of our school year," she added. "What this teaches kids in terms of working for a cause greater than themselves is invaluable." Also at the event, Celina native and The Ohio State University cancer researcher Jen Fleming spoke to students about preventing cancer.
