Leonard Peltier
Leonard H. Peltier age 97 of Russia, Ohio died at 4:15 AM on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Dorothy Love Nursing Home, Sidney, Ohio.
He was born on December 6, 1918 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio to the late August & Anna (DeBrosse) Peltier. He married Alvina Holthaus on August 23, 1941 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio and she preceded him in death on August 2, 2014.
He is survived by children, Phyllis Guaderrama, Westminster, CA, Janet & Joseph Szijarto, Oklahoma City, OK, Roger Peltier, Versailles, Mike & Pam Peltier, Ft. Loramie, Deborah & Jerry Walter, Troy, son-in-law Bob Bernhold, Minster, 10 grandchildren & 11 great grandchildren, sister Rose Schwieterman, Burkettsville, and sister-in-law Ruth Denn, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by daughter Barbara Bernhold & infant twins Mary & Joseph, brothers & sisters, Martha Luthman, Peg Baughter, Bernice Monnin, Gertrude Creager, Florence Bothast, Esther Zircher, Toni Baugher, Grace Lung, Hubert Peltier & step brother Albert Denn.
He was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia. He retired from Dayton Tire & Rubber after 38 years of service. He was a proud veteran of the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
He loved tinkering around the house, traveling, dancing, dominoes and spending time with his family and he loved a good bonfire.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Remy Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Fox Celebrant. Burial will take place following the service at St. Michael Cemetery, Ft. Loramie.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, March 10, and from 9 to 10 AM on Friday, March 11.
