Betty Youngs
Betty J. Youngs, 94, formerly of Saint Marys, and a resident of the Saint Marys Living Center, died 3:49 A.M. Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
She was born December 21, 1921, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Arthur and Prudencia (Howell) Kellermeyer. She married John H. Youngs on November 15, 1941, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1986.
She is survived by her children: Patricia (Kermit) Slone of Pippa Passes, Kentucky; Susan (George) Halko of Saint Marys; Michael (Donna) Youngs of Saint Marys. She is survived by 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandy Youngs of Saint Marys; by her siblings: Rita Davis of Saint Marys; Carol Beane of Wapakoneta; Mary Jo Speckman of Huber Heights; Richard Kellermeyer of Wapakoneta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, John H. Youngs, Jr; by her siblings Geraldine Eichelberger; Thomas Kellermeyer; Robert Kellermeyer; Arthur Kellermeyer, Jr.; Gene Kellermeyer; Larry Kellermeyer.
Betty was a 1939 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had worked for many years in the meat department of the Marsh Grocery Store. She later worked at Grant's and retired from Kmart in Saint Marys.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, where she was a member of the Altar Sodality of the church, and where she was a very active volunteer on the funeral luncheon committee. She loved playing cards with her family, and traveling to Las Vegas to gamble.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 12, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, Fr. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to Progeria Research; Grand Lake Hospice or Holy Rosary Catholic Church Building Fund.
