Wapakoneta crash claims life of area man

WAPAKONETA - A 19-year-old man was killed early Sunday morning after the car he was driving plowed into a downtown building.
Dakota Rostorfer was pronounced dead at the scene by Auglaize County Coroner Dr. Thomas Freytag in the 300 block of East Auglaize Street in Wapakoneta. Rostorfer was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Rostorfer reportedly was ejected from the vehicle when it struck the main building of Mike Swaney's Buick/GMC dealership at 3:45 a.m. The impact caused the building to partially collapse, according to a news release.
Wapakoneta police said Rostorfer was driving east on Auglaize Street when he lost control of the vehicle and it traveled off the right side of the street, struck a vehicle in Swaney's west lot and crashed into the building.
The accident remains under investigation.
Assisting police were city firefighters, the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, the Mercer County Sheriff's accident reconstruction team and Wapakoneta's street and light departments.
Rostorfer is the son of Andrew and Malinda Rostorfer of Wapakoneta. He was a 2014 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and had worked at Woody's in Indian Lake.
Rostorfer's death marks the seventh traffic fatality in Auglaize County this year.
