Leanna Reeks
Leanna R. Reeks, 80, Saint Marys, Ohio, died 8:25 P.M. Friday, July 31, 2015, at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, Saint Marys, Ohio.
She was born Thursday, October 12, 1934, in Willard, Ohio, the daughter of Wilbur and Madalyn (McQuown) Shields. She married J. Lee Reeks on June 24, 1955, in Plymouth, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1999.
She is survived by her two children: Karen (Richard) Moeller of Dayton, Ohio; Kevin (Cathy Woodward) Reeks of Lima, Ohio; by a brother, Larry (Dianna) Shields of Bradenton, Florida; a niece, Amanda (Andrew) Nellis of Wisconsin; a nephew, Brian (Andrea) Shields of Van Wert, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Leanna was a 1951 graduate of Plymouth High School. She was the retired co-owner of Priess Shoe Store in Saint Marys; she had also retired from Time Warner Cable Company.
She was a 50 year member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She was also active in the United Methodist Women, and served as a district officer for the organization.
She had volunteered for the Ohio Child Conservation League and Agape Ministries in Saint Marys. She was an avid gardener.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys, the Reverend Jon Kraner, officiant. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Galion, Ohio.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral rites at the church, where memorial gifts may be given to the Saint Marys Community Library. Arrangements are being handled by Miller Funeral Homes, St. Marys.
