E. Kathryn Black
E. Kathryn Black, 94, of Geneva, IN, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born on February 07, 1921, in Mercer County, OH to the late Loren B. and Zelma (Burley) Carr.
Kathryn graduated from Rockford High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Raymond E. Black on September 22, 1939 in Chattanooga, OH. To this union were born 2 daughters, Connie S. (Danny) Smuts and Patricia L. (Keith) Brewster.
She attended the New Corydon UMC and was the church pianist for over 50 years. She was a homemaker, avid reader and quilter.
She was preceded in death by her: Parents, Husband - Raymond E. Black, Daughter-Patricia L. Brewster, a Grandson-Ricky A. Brewster, Gr. Gr. Granddaughter-Allena M. Perry, four Brothers and two Sisters.
She is survived by a Daughter-Connie S. (Danny) Smuts, Geneva, 4 Grandchildren-Cathy L. (Rod) Bollenbacher, Randy A. (Jaretta) Smuts, David R. (Chanda) Smuts all of Geneva, Brian K. (Marcia) Brewster of Bluffton, IN, 11 Great Grandchildren, 21 Gr. Gr. Grandchildren and 5 step Great Grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A service to celebrate Kathryn's life will be at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 15, 2015; viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Marvin Taylor will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
