Onnolee Brodbeck
Onnolee M. Brodbeck, 91, a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, died 2:18 A.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Otterbein Saint Marys.
She was born May 11, 1924, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Arty and Emma (Burkhart) Wilkens. She married G. Eugene Brodbeck on November 10, 1946, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys. Gene survives at Otterbein Saint Marys.
She is also survived by her three children: Joyce (Terry) Finke of Celina; Kristine (Reverend Nick) Doversberger of Oregon City, Oregon; Reverend Dr. Mark (Barbara) Brodbeck of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She is survived by six grandchildren: Dr. Greg (Jennifer) Finke of Hamilton, Ohio; Dr. Matthew (Christine) Finke of Madiera, Ohio; Eric (Leah) Finke of Sidney, Ohio; Sarah (Kelly) Halliwell of Albany, Oregon; Jenna (Bill) Doversberger of Canaby, Oregon; Joshua (Katya) Brodbeck of Upper Arlington, Ohio. She is also survived by her fourteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Wilkens of Saint Marys and Rachel Webb of Rockford, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Kenneth Wilkens.
Onnolee was a 1942 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had worked at the former Saint Marys Woolen Mill and served as head cafeteria cook at Memorial High School for 15 years.
Onnolee was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, where she had been active in the Dorcas Society of the church and also the Women of the Church.
She was a talented quilter and seamstress and also belonged to numerous card clubs. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her friends at the Auglaize County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Tampa Club. She and her husband, Gene, enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.
Funeral rites will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Saint Marys, the Reverend Bill Maki, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church, where memorial gifts may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
