Seas leaving district

Coldwater superintendent accepts new position

By Jared Mauch
COLDWATER - Long-time superintendent Rich Seas will leave Coldwater Exempted Village Schools this summer to lead another school district.
Seas on Friday afternoon announced he has accepted a three-year superintendent contract with Adams County Ohio Valley School, effective July 1.
He will submit his formal resignation at a future school board meeting.
"Professionally, Coldwater has given me the opportunity to work with some outstanding students, staff and community members," he told the newspaper.
Seas has been Coldwater's superintendent for the past 12 years; prior to that, he served as the district's junior high principal for four years.
He told the newspaper it's time for a new challenge and opportunity.
As Adams County Ohio Valley School superintendent, Seas will preside over three school districts - Peebles, North Adams and West Union - as well as the Ohio Valley Career Technical Center.
The three districts enroll about 4,000 students.
"The responsibility and challenges of the job are exciting, and I really look forward to working with the Ohio Valley School Board, staff and students," Seas said.
He said he is looking forward to helping Coldwater schools transition to a new superintendent.
Coldwater school board president Terry Schroyer said Seas is a hard-working superintendent who stays abreast of educational issues and topics for the school district.

Five local pairs incubating eggs
Once a rarity, bald eagle sightings are becoming more common locally. The population is likely to grow this year with confirmation that five mated pairs in Mercer and Auglaize counties are incubating eggs.
Depending on a person's perspective, Nov. 4, 1791, in the area now known as Fort Recovery, was either a day of devastating humiliation or uplifting triumph.
