Treva Metzger
Treva D. Metzger, 92, formerly of 05680 CR 33-A, Saint Marys, and a resident of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, died 7:20 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Otterbein Saint Marys.
She was born November 21, 1922, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Coleman) Brodbeck. She married Kenneth Metzger on December 25, 1940, in a candlelight service at Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Robert "Buzz") Howard of Saint Marys; by two granddaughters: Dr. Susan (Doug) Byerly of Beavercreek, Ohio; Dr. Abby (Zach) Dunlap of Plymouth, Michigan. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Andrew Byerly; Thomas Byerly; Vivian Byerly; James Dunlap and Thomas Dunlap.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Brenda (Mike) Sprague of the Villages, Florida; Nancy (Ross) Sperry of Pierre, South Dakota; Tim (Judith) Metzger of Germany; Beth (Jim) Olsen of Osage, Iowa; Pastor Dan (Nancy) Metzger of Wichita, Kansas; Paul (Sue) Metzger of Dallas, Texas; Susan Gribben of North Carolina; Jeri (Frank) Jankovsky of Georgia; Robert (Michele) Morris of Radnor, Ohio.
Treva was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters: Edrie Bittigar and Mary Hendricks; by a grandson, Thomas Howard.
She was a 1940 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She had worked at the former Carl Ike Insurance Agency in Saint Marys and was an office manager at Westin Paper Company for 24 years. She also worked at the former Home Bank in Saint Marys, and later retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Saint Marys, where she worked in the general offices.
She was a member of the former Saint Marys Music Club and Saint Marys Drama Club. She also belonged to the Progress Club and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Marys, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was very active at Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community and she lived for her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 30, 2015, in the Meyer Community Chapel on the campus of Otterbein Saint Marys Retirement Community, Pastor Dan Metzger, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral rites at Otterbein Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Jace and Thomas Howard Scholarship Fund.
