James Ahrns
James R. Ahrns, 80, Minster, died at 2 a.m. Feb. 25, 2015, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 28, 1935, in Minster, to the late Richard and Julena (Sautman) Ahrns.
Surviving are his children, Mary Jo and David Stilwell, Mendon, James R. Jr. and Deb Ahrns, Centerville, and Patti and Gary Williams, Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brothers, Ed Ahrns, Minster, and Dick and Janice Ahrns, Minster; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Ahrns, Minster.
Deceased are a brother, John Ahrns; an infant sister, Helen Ahrns; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Ahrns; and a great-granddaughter, Thea Rose Schmitt.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and retired from Minster Machine after more than 40 years.
Per Jim's wishes, his body was donated to science. A Memorial Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church Minster, the Rev. Rick Nieberding celebrant.
Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grand Lake Hospice and The St. Marys Tailgate for Cancer.
