Dolores Scott
Dolores "Dee" Scott, 69, St. Marys, departed this life on Jan. 14, 2015, after a courageous battle with an illness at Kindred Hospital and St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Jan. 3, 1946, in Sidney, the eldest child of Francis and Ida Mary Cianciole Gibbs. On May 4, 1968, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sidney, she married Larry J. Scott, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Brian J. (Angela) Scott, St. Marys, Kevin A. (Beth) Scott, New Knoxville, and Daren M. (Wendy) Scott, Morrow; six grandchildren, Justin, Brittany, Ashley, Erin, Kylie and Morgan Scott; four siblings, Father Donald Gibbs, O.S.B., Conception, Mo., Connie (Myrle) Fahnke, Sidney, David (Penny) Gibbs, Sidney, and Michael (Cheryl) Gibbs, Sidney; many in-laws, Tom (Joyce) Scott, St. Marys, Carol (Barney) Klosterman, St. Marys, Mary Ann (Bob) Laughlin, Celina, Nancy (John) Nester, Wapakoneta, Sharon (Lee) Burden, Wapakoneta, Allen (LuAnne) Scott, Wapakoneta, and Lee (Sue) Scott, Wapakoneta; a large extended family and many close friends.
Deceased are her parents-in-law, Walter and Mary Scott; a sister-in-law, Alice Scott-Clayton; a brother-in-law, Jerry Burden; and numerous members of the late Henry and Rose Cianciole family, who were very close to her heart.
She graduated in 1964 from Holy Angels High School, Sidney. She retired after 17 years of service as the head of the Holy Rosary Catholic School Cafeteria, St. Marys. She was a proud and active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Altar-Rosary Society. She and her husband volunteered for many years as chairpersons of the "lunch stand" at the annual parish festival.
She was a member and past president of the St. Marys Tri Squares, Squared and Round Dance Club and was a member of the Midwestern Ohio Council of Square and Round Dancers. She and her husband attended multiple state and national conventions with the clubs. Besides her love of square dancing, she also took great pride in following her grandchildren in their numerous undertakings and adventures.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, west chapel, St. Marys.
Memorials may be given to the Friends of Holy Rosary School.
