* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Gwenda Wenning
Gwenda Joan Wenning, 91, Celina, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Dec. 29, 2014, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Bath, England, to Solomon and Ethel Paige Scadding. On May 11, 1946, she married Werner Henry Wenning, who died June 5, 2010, after 64 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, Nathan (Linda K.) Wenning, Celina, and Adrian (Linda F.) Wenning, Celina; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Jason, Erin, Emily, Amy, Ben, Derek and Brittany; nine great-grandchildren, Kayla, Avery, Alexander, Evan, Oliver, Harrison, Charley, Liam and Reid; a great-great-granddaughter, Kinzie; a sister, Aurlene Hoare, St. Catharine's, Ontario; and a son-in-law, Dick (Beth) Bricker, Celina.
Also deceased are a daughter, Sylvia Jean Bricker, who died May 1, 1996; a granddaughter, Heather Bricker; a brother, Idris Scadding; and a sister, Gwyneth Ansley.
She met her future husband while he was stationed with the U.S. Army in England and became a British war bride after World War II.
She had worked at General Telephone/Verizon in Celina. After retiring, she and her husband provided child care in their home. They often jokingly said they raised 20 children but only three were their own.
She enjoyed writing stories and was a member of the Stateline Writers' Club. She published a book about her experiences as a British war bride. She was acquainted with many fellow British war brides in the area, and they maintained close friendships over the decades.
She retained her British citizenship and made regular excursions back to her homeland, often taking along family members. She enjoyed knitting, and made many hats and scarves for her grandchildren and for charity. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Thursday and 9:15-10:15 a.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina.
Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or the Immaculate Conception Endowment Fund.
