* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, southwest, and west central Ohio.

* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

Charles Hamrick
Charles E. Hamrick, 89, Decatur, Ind., died at 8:35 a.m. Dec. 5, 2014, at Adams Woodcrest Nursing Home, Decatur, Ind.
He was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Adams County, Ind., to Samuel L. and Nora V. Frank Hamrick. On Sept. 1, 1951, he married Ethel M. Adams, who died May 26, 2012.
Surviving are two sons, David A. (Linda) Hamrick, Marion, and Dale E. (Marie) Hamrick, New Haven, Ind.; two daughters, Judith A. (Mark) Masterson, Beavercreek, and Joyce K. Giltrap, Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Clarence (Kate) Hamrick, Willshire, and Duane (Jeannie) Hamrick, Rockford; two sisters, Norma (Lindy) Lybarger, North Manchester, Ind., and Carolyn (Tom) Baker, Celina; eight grandchildren, Sarah Dickey, Zachary Hamrick, Daniel Hamrick, Aaron Hamrick, April Carson, Mandy Rogers, Justin Masterson and Jon Masterson; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are two brothers, Paul and Victor Hamrick; a sister, Evelyn Luginbill; and a son-in-law, William R. Giltrap Jr.
He retired in July 1983 after 22 years of service with Navistar in Fort Wayne, Ind. After his retirement, he worked at Myers Furniture, the Schaefer Wholesale Company, Gerber's Supermarket and Bob's TV.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the occupational force in Germany following the end of the war. He was a member of Cornerstone Community Church, Decatur (formerly the Decatur Missionary Church).
He enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon. Baseball was a very important part of his life and the Cleveland Indians was his favorite team, which was made more enjoyable to him when his grandson, Justin Masterson, was signed and pitched for Cleveland.
He enjoyed catching up and sharing baseball stories with his gang at McDonald's every morning and at the West End for lunch Monday through Friday.
In addition to his hobbies, his greatest joy was taking care of his loving wife, Ethel, checking on her every day during her 16 years of illness.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Community Church, Decatur, the Revs. Floyd Vieth and Ken Hogg officiating. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery.
Calling is 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. today at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Community Church.
