Milo Keith
Milo R. Keith, 79, New Knoxville, died at 9:35 p.m. Oct. 29, 2014, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
He was born June 2, 1935, in Van Wert, to Milo and Alice Wyandt Keith. On Oct. 10, 1954, in Van Wert, he married Helen Mace, who survives at the residence.
Other survivors are two daughters, Pam (Tom) James, Delaware, and Brenda (Dwain) Meckstroth, New Knoxville; four grandchildren, Keith (Becky) Meckstroth, Andrew Meckstroth, Whitney (Mitchel) Klosterman and Sarah James; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Emery Meckstroth; a sister, Mary Ellen White, New Bremen; and a brother, David Keith, Jefferson City, Mo.
Deceased are a son, Michael Keith; a brother, Robert Keith; and a granddaughter, Samantha James.
He was a 1954 graduate of Van Wert High School. He retired from Chrysler Corp. and later worked at GKN Sinter Metals in Van Wert. He was a member of the New Knoxville United Methodist Church.
After retirement, he loved to golf and had recorded two holes-in-one. He also enjoyed fishing and listening to bluegrass music. He liked to farm and to restore Cushman Scooters. He helped build the Freedom Train, a popular train ride that appears at many local events, and he served as chief engineer of the train. He loved New Knoxville Ranger athletics and adored his dog, Jackee.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at New Knoxville United Methodist Church, New Knoxville, the Rev. Dennis Gaertner officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the church.
