Allen Mendenhall
Allen "Duane" Mendenhall, 61, Yorkshire, passed away of natural causes at his residence Sept. 6, 2014.
He was born Oct. 10, 1952, in Greenville, to Allen L. and Luella Sanders Mendenhall. On Oct. 11, 1974, at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter, he married Diana Siegrist, who survives at home.
Also surviving are a mother-in-law, Mary Siegrist, St. Peter; two sons, Michael (Sara) Mendenhall, Van Wert, and Gary Mendenhall, Houston; five grandchildren, Laurel, Jacob, Madison, Ethan and Garry Mendenhall; three sisters, Mary Lou (Don) Dowell, Piqua, Janet Bey, Versailles, and Sue (Ed) Minnich, Versailles; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Paul (Alberta) Siegrist, St. Henry, Rita McEldowney, Fort Recovery, Joe (Diane) Siegrist, Union City, Ind., Ruth (Mark) Beyke, Fort Recovery, and Andy (Pam) Siegrist, Fort Recovery; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a sister, Kathy Mendenhall; three brothers, Johnnylee, Gary Allen and Larry Mendenhall; two brothers-in-law, John Bey and Mark McEldowney; and a father-in-law, Edwin Siegrist.
He was previously employed at Arys Auto Sales, Piqua, where he had been a detailer. He was a member of the Greenville Rolling 50's Classic Car Club. He enjoyed working with wood and had an appreciation for antiques. He also was fond of his grandchildren and frequently entertained them with golf cart and tractor rides. He would often keep an evening camp fire burning as if to say life is good.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie, the Rev. James Simons officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family Church Cemetery, Frenchtown.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, or a charity of the donor's choice.
