Leon Smith
Leon E. Smith, 94, St. Marys, and formerly of New Knoxville, died at 7 a.m. Aug. 15, 2014, at the St. Marys Living Center.
He was born April 16, 1920, in Mercer County, the son of Ernest and Carrie Roediger Smith. On Nov. 21, 1948, he married Marjorie "Lucille" Rogers, who died Dec. 26, 2013.
Surviving is a son, David Smith, Hepburn.
Deceased is an infant brother and a daughter, Deb Smith.
He retired from Hoge Lumber Company, New Knoxville, where he had been a cabinet maker. He was a member of Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a machine gunner in the European Theatre during World War II.
Services are at noon Wednesday at Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen, Pastor Tom Sager officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is one hour prior to services Wednesday at Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen.
Memorial gifts may be given to the church.
