Ronald Ronayne
Ronald J. Ronayne, 95, of Delaware, formerly of Celina, died July 9, 2014, at the Inn at Olentangy Trail Senior Assisted Living in Delaware.
He was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Le Sueur, Minn., to John and Blanche Sullivan Ronayne. On June 13, 1959, he married Elizabeth Uselman, who died in 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Tony) Thomas, Columbus, and Ann (Rob) Wermeling, Fort Wright, Ky.; a sister, Rita Ronayne, Maplewood, Minn.; four grandchildren, Aaron Thomas, Nicholas Shea, Amanda and Paul Cook and Elizabeth Wermeling; and a great-grandchild, Elijah Cook.
A daughter, Therese Ann Ronayne, is deceased.
He graduated from high school in Le Center, Minn., and received a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. He served aboard the U.S. Navy's Landing Ship Tank 743 during World War II and retired from the Naval Reserves in 1979. He formerly worked at Curtiss-Wright Corp. in New Jersey and Oliver Farm Implements and retired from AVCO New Idea in Coldwater in 1981.
He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Celina, where he had been a Eucharistic minister and an usher. He was a life member of Celina VFW Post 5713, a Fourth Degree member of Knights of Columbus Celina Council 1800 and a proud member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schnipke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Celina, with military rites by the Celina VFW and Celina American Legion.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina. VFW services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
